Standard Positions

The following Job Descriptions are for our standard positions. We may not always be hiring for these roles, but will always accept applications for them. 

Community Consultant 

Sylvan Factory Community Consultants provide an excellent customer service experience to customers, event participants, and community members.


 Essential Duties

  • Interact with customers in a friendly and outgoing manner
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers and event participants
  • Familiarity with SquarePOS or equivalent Register systems. 
  • Assist the community using varied communication platforms
  • Maintain a clean and tidy environment in the store
  • Manage and run events in the Sylvan Factory play area
  • Other duties as assigned


Desired Qualifications

The more of these qualifications you possess, the stronger your application will be, but unless stated as required, missing these qualifications does not automatically disqualify you. We encourage all who are interested in the position to submit their application.

  • Available nights and weekends
  • Experience in retail or customer service
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Willingness to learn and receive feedback
  • Knowledge of product lines sold within the store
  • Ability to lift items over 25 pounds and move throughout the store for the length of a 3 to 5 hour shift
  • Ability to arrive on time and stay through the duration of a shift. 

Keyholder (Shift Manager)

Sylvan Factory Keyholders ensure the store’s success through on-the-ground management of the store’s daily operations. 


Essential Duties:

Shift Management 

  • Act as an exemplar in all areas and tasks expected of Community Consultants
  • Ensure all recurring front of house tasks are completed accurately and to a high standard. 
  • Be present for any manager level decision making tasks such as customer service needs, crisis management, and refunds.
  • Ensure all events start on time and run smoothly and accurately.
  • Ensure the store is opened/closed on time and the store is properly secured. 


Community Liaison 

  • Exemplifies store mission and vision goals in everyday performance.
  • Maintain direct community contact with event participants and customers, recording important information and communicating with the team.
  • Actively seek out customer feedback and suggestions.
  • Highlight and identify community leaders and maintain positive connections with them to ensure important community sentiment is heard


Store Management 

  • Maintain useful and aesthetically pleasant displays, signage, and overall sale's floor organization.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace behind the counter including organizing cabinets, drawers, and product backstock.
  • Ensure cleaning, straightening, and organization are performed to high standards.

  • Ability to work well in difficult and stressful situations 
  • Proficient in problem solving
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience with POS systems, inventory management, or other relevant administrative tasks 
  • Available nights and weekends (contact Sylvan Staff for exact availability needs at this time)
  • Experience in retail or customer service
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
